So I need to get plates for a boat trailer.
Go to dmv's website they say trailers are registered the same as a motor vehicle.
One of those conditions is needing an odometer reading.
It's a trailer?
It also says it has to be inspected?

Ugh. To bad the Va plates expired. Was easier leaving them alone.

Do i just go by the dmv and give them money and they'll give me a plate? And the website is pointlessly confusing?

Thanks.

do you have the title?

if so :

go to tag office.

leave with plate.

If not, then it will be a little more involved i guess, never had to go through that.

Yea, i have the title.
So it should be easy. Cool. Just didn't want to deal with the line, and have them tell me I needed some other random thing.

Thanks

boat trailer is pretty easy. Just go in with the title, write them a check and you are good to go. Make sure you take a few dollars in cash because of some kinda notary fee they like to charge, which goes right into the pocket of the teller. Seems like a crock to me, but that's just what I think.

If you plan on having the boat/trailer for a while longer, get a multi year plate. Its 75 up front but you never have to renew it as long as you own it.

The HF trailer should have come with a certficate of origin from the manuf. NC turns that into a title. Or you could go through the whole "home made" trailer deal.

Dont have the certificate either (at least I dont, maybe the PO has it...)

So without that, whats the process to get the title?
