Long story short, punk at the mall jumped out to pass (speeding, no headlights, & admitted it was his 2nd accident of the week), but private property = "no fault" from responding LEO.
Insurance guy advises no problems if under under $1800 (I know... not gonna happen :shaking: ) and advises to hold "accident forgiveness" for son who turns 16 next year.
Both drivers side doors toast. Appears to be no other damage & repairable by simply swapping the doors. While not exactly how I'd like to spend my holidays, I should be able to perform the swap (reusing her interior, glass, tracks, motors, & electronics). Finding the same color keeps the paint a factory shade & removes a partial paint job from the equation... but color matched appears to command a premium?

- Are there alternatives to the various on-line locaters?
- Or better to ask a repair shop/parts house to search them out and utilize them for shipping (asking for raping?)?

PM bullardbs he works at the kia place on link road. he may be able to point you to a source.

Did you file it with the other guy's insurance? It being not at fault on private property is stupid. That means anyone who cuts me off I can just follow them into a parking lot and smash into them to teach them a lesson.

I know my mom had her car hit in a parking lot before and the other guy's insurance paid for it.

same here..

Sounds fine on paper, but that swings both ways since the punk could also make a claim on *our* insurance... pretty much fawkin' us from the get go, right?

You didn't give him your insurance info, right? If you did you may be screwed, but since it was his fault - and it was his fault no matter what the LEO said - you shouldn't have given him your info.

Worst case - small claims court. I got hit once on Capital Blvd. Guy merged back into traffic from the left turn lane just as I was passing him and he clipped the back of my truck and smashed into my tow dolly. He said it was his fault and gave me his insurance info and the number for his body shop and said he'd fix it. After he found out how much a new tow dolly costs he refused to answer my calls. I filed with his insurance and he made up some story and they denied my claim.

No one fucks with me, so I took his ass to small claims court for the cost of the most expensive body shop estimate (minus what my insurance paid out) and a brand new tow dolly. I won $1600 off the guy (I only had the dolly for about a month and I bought it for $500) and he refused to pay so I sent a sheriff out to collect. When they told him he either had to pay be $1700 (he took a while to pay, got interest!) or hand over the keys to his 69 Nova, he gave them the check.

I went out the next day and bought a nice big 18' flatbed dovetail trailer. Fixed my truck myself for $100, too.:huggy:

Oh, and my grandfather took my tow dolly and chopped it up, straightened it, welded it back together, and I'm still using it!
