Family tradition started 3 years ago. We all go out on the lake at the end of the year for our annual Polar Bear wakeboard trip.

This year.... well, it wasn't as cold as it has been. It was 64 degrees yesterday  A little overcast, but still warm enough to feel like a fall trip- minus the cold water anyway.

Anyone else hit the water this time of year?

Thought I would share some pics!

your brother in law looks like he's about to eat it!

Awesome man! I so wanted to go this weekend, only I dont have a wetsuit and the SeaRay is messed up and dry docked.... But you have a tower I would like to use so lets go on your boat! You on Lake Norman?

you gotta do it in speedos to be true Polar Bear members :lol:

Yea I did the Polar Plunge at Appalachian one year in speedos where we jump in the frozen lake.... it wasnt pretty. Shrinkage is a bitch! :shaking:

I get out there fishing but I dont get in....at least not intentionally :) :)

especially when there isn't much to start with...

Have you been watchin me get out of the shower again?!? Trespasser! :fuck-you:

Yeah your Bro in Law -
Ha ha, yeah his center of gravity was all off. You can tell how he is holding the handle at his knees so he has no leverage when he lands. I love wakeboarding. I probably suck now since I havent done it in 3 years but then again I still snowboard and I skateboarded for 8 years. So its kinda like riding a bike for me. Hell I could surf an ironing board if I had to.
Im in Lake Wylie, I think you are an hour out from me.

when I was in college we went barefoot water sking Feb 1st.. just to say we did..

man I about died.. it was like 40 degrees outside and the water just got to me..

oh ya and I wore shorts wet suit.. wish I had a full wet suit that day..

The boat is a Centurion T5 Thunder Storm- 330hp and a 250lbs fat sack.

How far are you from Mtn Island Lake? We are always looking for excuses to go out.

That sounds like a gnarly boat! Looks purdy too!

Im only 30 mins from you, so we should make something happen. I am about to get a wakeboard too so ill need to test it out since our Sea Ray is out of commission at the moment. PM me.

sounds cool...about 25 to 30 mins. In Kannapolis. You need more sacks. I go out with a buddy in Corneilus quite abit behind an '02 Wakesetter, but he's not into cold water.

excuse my ignorance.... whats the sacks for? weight distribution for larger wake?

I agree on adding more sacks. The goal is to get a Malibu Ride V-drive with about 2000lb of ballast. But for now, this one has been tons of fun.

Heres my ride...'89 Bu skier..old skool style :driver:

I grew up w/ a similar year Malibu Skier....had a blast knee-boarding/tubing/skiing. Parents & some friends ski'd on 01/01/00 - froze their asses off w/o suits. I stayed in the boat....

I last went out Dec 7th.
Heres a pic of a double up.
My friend has his Sport Nautique in his garage so it doesn't need to be winterized.
I was at Mt Island Lake this summer for a comp, it looks like a nice lake.

Sweet jump.

What comp on Mtn Island?

The lake has been great. Very little traffic on the weekends and zero traffic on the weekdays. :wheel:

I have been keeping my boat in my parents garage and keeping their Whaler in mine- (my gararge in 22' deep, theirs is 24") so I've been lucky enough not to winterize mine yet either.

We've gone wakeboarding every jan 1st or 2nd here on lake james for the past three years as well actually. Except no wetsuits, just lots of towels. It's not so bad as long as the sun's out.

Your boat is much nicer though. :D
