My DW is tired of the tent and no a/c and we have been looking at camper options...anything from a trailer mount sleeper (ala Yager) to a totorhome (not quite affordable).

My trailer is a 22' with twin 6k axles, but titled at 9990#. Weight-wise, I can handle the CJ and the pop-up on the trailer at the same time, but for weight distribution and balance, it looks like I will have to load the CJ on the trailer first, then the popup, but with about 3' to 3.5' of the pop-up hanging out past the back end of the trailer.

Any problems with this legally? Will I get hassled? Will I have to red-flag it?

can u move the pop up on to the tounge a little ? sounds like a pita to put the pop up on last .. i got a buddy that got a 25 ft. with his pop up on the front and he puts his buggy on the back. his buggy has a 136" wheelbase and 46" tires so it long as hell and he has a little room to spare .

Don't have a pop-up yet, got measurements off a friends, drawings and calculator to guessimate loading. I know it'll be different in the real world, especially depending on weight and box length of whatever I end up with. I'm looking for a short one, 8' box, about 1500# dry.

If the pop up on first, then the the rig is too much tongue weight, might could back the rig on to lesson the toungue weight??
Just a thought

im running a 22' also, and even with my 5' deep sleeper, i could loose 2' off the back. It ALL boils down to how much the camper weighs and what the set back is on your trailer.

IMHO plan on running a WD hitch, its really the only way I can tow my trailer empty (with the sleeper) without doing a funny tongue heavy bounce in the back...

Im planning to goto Robs (sanford) in the next few weeks, i can bring my tonge scale down with me. If you wanted to stop by his place we could weigh your trailer TW as it sits for a base line. I can give you my opinion on what I think your TW will do based on the weights..

Some food for thought. With my camper on the front, (guessing 1000-1100# now) with my jeep in the location that gives me 800# TW, if i roll up 2" it puts me at 1000# TW. Worst case plan to slide your axles back some..

It would be a major PITA to have your jeep on first what ever you plan to use...

I'll add, you may want to bring you and the wife over to check out the sleeper. I love it, but can admit its definitely not for everyone. Cost wise I think I came out looking good @~1200 for a camper/box that should last a long time. Its hard to find any camper in good shape for that cost..

I have seen this a couple of times now. What does DW stand for?

Damn Wife or Dear Wife YMMV
