Does anyone know where I could get my wheels powder coated in the Charlotte area? I like the look of my stock rims, but would really like to have black rims... so I'm hoping there is a place that can help me have both. If anyone has had this done, how much did you pay and did they take the tires off for you?

Powder Coating in NC

These guys gotta be good! http://www.airborncoatings.com/homepage.html
I got their name from Advanced Powder Coatings in Burlington, and they they do incredible work themselves but no ceramic work. They send their Ceramic Coating work to Airborn Coatings. I also know a few guys in race shops down that way that use Airborn.

Try'em out. I never sent anything to them since I'm so close to HPC but I'm sure I will in the future.

Goodluck,
Tim

Thanks for the info. I just sent them an email because no one picked up when I called their office. There's another place near Gastonia I called, but their prices are a bit steep (100-150) per wheel for sand blasting and coating... Also, they say it'll take up to 2-3 weeks, which is way too long. Hope Airborne has a better deal.

I just called, I am going to take them some headers I will let you know how they turn out.

No making means that I'll be one solid color. Many people want polished rings or colored rings with polished spokes. It is hard to mask in the powder coating process. Tape doesn't stick when you get to the baking process. The only way they can bake is to mask, cook till the powder starts to harden then take out of the oven and take of masking. Otherwise the tapes adhesive will just melt off the application. Thats a good deal if they're stripping the product.

Their sales team emailed me saying it'll be about 75 per wheel, without masking. Not sure what that means... but let me know how your headers turn out!

MASKING

NO MASKING WAS THE FIRST WORD. LOL
