Thinking about putting a 2000W 120VAC source either inside my toolbox or inside a battery box mounted in the bed and have come up with some questions. Does anybody run power inverters on their rig? What brands should I look at? Any useful features to look for? All info is appreciated!

For an inverter of that size, I beleive you have to hardwire to the battery. Be careful to vent the inverter while operating, they will heat up, so need airlow. I use a 1500 watt vector. Look for one with a built in fuse, at least 2 outlets, You get what you pay for.

I ride with a guy that has a 2500w in his Samurai. He runs everything from grinders to drills to impact wrench with it. Not sure of brand or features but I agree, with inverters you get what you pay for. If you can afford it be sure to get a pure sine wave inverter!

Mine is a superex 2500w that I run my air conditioner with. It's hard wired directly to my Optima Yellow top with 00 welding cable. Had to up the alternator to a 105 amp GM one wire with hi po voltage regulator. But now I can run my fridge should the power go out, or the microwave, or just about anything else. Also what was said about them getting hot is true. Mine will not run if it gets too hot in the cab.

i have a 750w vector in the jeep and a 3000w in tow rig both work great 750 is great on trail for grinders drill i have the charger for my makitta impact pluged in to keep a fresh battery on trail.and the 3000 in the truck will run a 110v welder, elec. skillet in camp site. and i have even used it in power outages. hope that helps some .just dont buy some hf crap pick a good brand and look at how the startup voltage works some converters wont start some power tools without having a load from say a incandesant light.
