Power steering pump questions

I have the 2.3L Honda engine out of an Accord, it has a pump on it that was for rack and pinion steering. Do you think that it would be a good enough pump for full hydro and a double ended ram?

My other option is to use a pump off an LT1 since they are reverse rotation, but I was looking at one on a parts car yesterday and they look REALLY small as well. The car was a buick roadmaster.

Does anyone know which LT1 pump I should get or are they all the same? I'd really like to use the Honda pump since it is already mounted, but I doubt it would have enough flow.

Thanks

I seriously doubt those pumps will be adequate. PSC or Howe will probably have the pump you need as well as the other components - unless you already have that stuff. I have had my system from PSC for years without any problems whatsoever.

The lt1 in your roadmaster uses a small car style pump that is marginal with a 1.5" assist cylinder, so I don't think it would work well for full hydro unless the fluid requirements are less. As far as I can tell they don't offer a highflow replacement. I would try the honda since there is no fab work and if it doesn't work go to a truck style pump if possible.

i have done my research on my honda buggy, talked to Dragalong on pirate(kids honda buggy)He has been running the stock honda pump for 2 years and just replaced it with a junkyard pump,he puts a honda alt pulley on it.
as for the LT1 pump,(rockape) on pirate uses a pump from a 1995 impala with a psc toyota pulley (4 rib)that the center has been machined bigger to fit the lt1 pump.
Im using a GM pump off a 1992 s-10 mounted backwards.key is to do no upgrades to the pump, the motor cannot handle the increased flow/volume at an idle,it will stall the engine
hope this helps

run a chevy power steering pump it is just right i am runing a 2x8 double ended ram with an orbital and a chevy pump off a 4.3 and it is just as fast as a car with a rack and pinion.
