I have 2 optima batteries wired directly togeter in my 88 Jeep Cherokee. I know this isn't the preferred method when running this setup, but for the time being its what I am doing.

So Should I just hook the pos and neg from the winch straight up to one battery, or some other way? Please let me know what you suggest. -Tim

If they are wired in parallel (which they are, otherwise every electronic device in the Cherokee would be a smoking pile), hook it to one battery, but make sure the wires connecting the 2 batteries are at LEAST as big as the 2 gauge going to the winch.

Nothing wrong with using 2 similar aged batteries together... Look under the hood of your Dodge.. ;)

Preferred ?

Tim,
Unless you plan on running an isolated dual battery setup, follow Rich's advice. This way you will have the least resistance and therefore less current draw, no extra voltage drop over diodes etc. The only drawback to parallel with no isolation is that once the batteries are dead, tough....(.)
