Preventing frame rust

I’m sure this has been covered so link other threads if you know of ‘em, but thought I’d see if I could pick y’all’s brains about keeping the underside of my truck from rusting. Just picked up a 95 Taco, body is ok, the frame and running gear look as good as I’ve seen (why I bought the truck), but a lot of the other Yotas I looked at were pretty far gone. What’s the best way I can keep mine from looking like the others? Looking for cheap DIY in the driveway kinds of solutions that are worth the effort, not looking to spend $20k and have the frame blasted/coated.

These are the options I’m considering at the moment:
1. Wire brush, rust converter, clear rustoleum (I wanna see what’s happening, not worried about the look)
2. Pressure wash, let dry, coat in motor oil (or used fryer oil I’ve got loads..) I know it’ll get caked in crud but everything that’s greased up from a leaky valve cover looks great when I wipe it clean just sayin
3. Wire brush, coat in epoxy

I’m looking especially for advice from folks who have 10 years plus on a similar effort - how’s it holding up?

I don’t have the required 10 years experience with this, but I’ve been using it for years on various projects.

Eastwood Company - Rust Encapsulator for the frame and the internal frame coating (sprays 360° to coat full interior perimeter of frame); POR15 on the sheet metal (can also use on the exterior of the frame)

I wanted to order 3 more cans of it for my Jeep frame, but the site doesn’t seem to like me. I may have to call them…

Pro tip - grab an aerosol can of PRE to clean out the tube and nozzle. If cleaned, the assembly is reusable!

I have been using Eastwood encapsulator for awhile now and it holds up well. Their newer product that comes with nozzle to get inside frame rails also works as designed.

when I have researched frame preservation in the past, I came across a lot of posts and articles on people using Fluid Film, especially up north, to coat their frames and underbodies. May be worth looking at that product too. My only personal use to date has been coating it on bare metal equipment for last few years and it has kept corrosion at bay.

Think I’ll go Eastwood’s inside the frame and fluid film ever-where’s else. My camera sucks but I’ll try and do a before/after as a point of reference in hopes I have this truck a while

How often do you apply this?
The folks in the northeast seem to just do a coat each year before snow. It’s easy enough to do (and nontoxic, when does that ever happen) that I’m laying it on in the summer. The black FF I ordered on the web came with an extension hose to get inside the frame. I like this way better than paint personally, we’ll see what it does over time

I have read that FF works well from guys in the north and mid-west.
