Just want to throw my 2cents out there. Damn chinese building to many bridges and skyscrapers making our steel go up and up. I was laid off 3 weeks ago wanted to buy tubing to get my buggy started and now looks like im going to have to win the freaking lottery. It's about time we all stood up to this stupid bs. GOOD luck to all.

tube doesn't seem too high. Seen it anywhere from $2.12/foot up to $3.75, depending on where and how much to buy (1.75x.120 DOM)

You have to buy from someone that has had it in stock for awhile. If they are getting it from the mill you will pay close to 5 a foot.

If you would have priced it back in Aug/Sep you'd be happy to pay it now.

I've never paid over $3.20/foot after tax that I can remember. Gotta buy in bulk to get a good price though!
Getting laid off must be nice if it pays enough to start building a buggy :)

Ha ha, thats just what I mean. Got plenty of time not enough cash.

They pay $2.50 per hundred pounds for scrap, so it ought to be crazy cheap. Normal scrap price is $5.00 and it was up to $12.50

Talked to the local auto salvage yesterday and they are paying $5/hundred, which is pretty sorry. So, steel is fairly cheap right now. Plus, you may be able to find a smal local supplier that wants to move some inventory in this slow market, so shop around and I'm sure you'll find some tube for an affordable price.

That equates to .025 per lb vs .125 per lb. New steel is around $2 per lb.

10 cents a lb don't change the price of new steel very much.
