ok i have a question about a spot at uwharrie i want to go check out for some primative camping with the family. ive only been there twice and camped out once and that was right off of badin lake at kings mountain point. i saw on the maps that NF-555 or cotton place rd comes right off of the entrance rd and goes down right off a river. looking at the maps it looks like a nice spot to camp with the family. (out of the way from alot of trafic, and a great place to fish). Some of the maps show a gate though and am not sure if primative camping is allowed there or if i will be able to park my jeep near the camp site. last time i called they said you can camp anywhere if it is just primative camping. but i figured i would ask you guys with alot more expeirence out there.

There are some nice places to camp down there but all of the river side property at the end of Cotton Place is private land. There are two gates at the end of Cotton Place that lead to the private land. These properties are being developed for daily fee camping and OHV use by Scott Fields, owner of Uwharrie Off Road Training Center. Scott, with the help of the Carolina Trail Blazers 4wd Club, has been working on this project for several months and a Grand Opening is slated for the Uwharrrie Jamboree taking place March 30 - April 1, 2012.

already went to badin lake camp ground and didnt like it. not my idea of camping. want to be a little more away from people. i liked kings mountain point because you could camp off the trail and you were away from other campers. there was only 1 other camp group that was out on that whole trail that weekend and we were 1/2 mile apart from each other. and it was close to the water which was nice for the fishing. i knew that there was a river and alot of streams throughout the ure and was trying to find other places to camp near water ie river or decent size stream. for some possible fishing. possibly something close to a road or off road trail that i can take my jeep so it will be close to the campsite. i plan on getting a pass so i can take my jeep on the trails to.
