How many people on here would like to see a OHV area near Siler City and Sanford NC, in Chatham County. Also how much would you expect to pay to ride for a day and camp for the night. Asking b/c my family has alot of land close to 400 acres connected and more not far down the road and I'm thinking of maybe one day turning it into an offroad park open to the public. Any Ideas on what activities and facilities to offer, and also any info on what regulations and permits etc.. needed to do something like this. This post is just for fun right now but who knows what might happen.

Talk to SkyHi. hes got a whole notebook full of info on this.

FYI...id love to see this happen...but we see this kinda post....alot.

I'd like to see one semi-local. If you give me the address or PIN I can look it up to see the potentials and possible snags. Buffers/ setbacks / thoroughfares / zoning / and county requirements. Sounds like a good chunk of land, bigger than what I hear about in Chatham Co. Chances are it's zoned agricultural with allowances of one major event per month. That's pretty typical around here. Besides that, it's just appeasing Chatham County with what you got going on.

I'd pay up to $20 a day for a rig and two people to ride.

I'd pay up to $10 a night for a primitive campsite that allowed multiple campers and would pay up to $20 a night for an improved campsite (water, electric) with clean bathhouse and restrooms available.

Uh..oh....are you gonna destroy the land?
LOL

I would pay 20 Bucks for myself and a passenger to run the trails for a day. Another 10 to Camp primitive wherever I can find...
$50 for the weekend would be fair also.

As has been said, we hear about this all the time and most of the time once the thread stops getting replies we never hear of it again. Although most the people who do that have about 1/5 or less of the land you have...

how much i would pay depends on how good the wheeling is. If it is mud pits and a few dirt hillclimbs, I probably wouldn't come even if it were free. The more big rocks and big(non mud) obstacles you have, I could see myself paying up to about $20 per day. $10 to primitive camp seems reasonable.

Sounds great! I live in Sanford and my in-laws live in Chatham co. (south of Siler City), this would really be convenient for me.
If you need any help cutting trails and such let me know!

before u cut the trees down me and some buddys will come take some deer out. just saying

I understand that yall get alot of these posts and that alot don't pan out which is realistic, and I'm not saying that I can or will end up doing this I'm only 23 right now and my grandpa and greatgrandpa own the majority of the land they used to farm crops and such then like alot of small farmers they cant survive b/c of the larger farms pushing them out the only reason they still have all the land is my grandpa started his own business, they both have cows, and gpa also had 8 chicken houses. It's hilly in some places and flatter in some we have a really rocky hill that takes up a whole field I think with some work the hill could be dug down some to the rocks and be made into some challenging rocky hill climbs, or there may be nothing down there I know my grandparents would never let me do that, and I may not be able to hold onto the land when it comes time for me to take over to even try. I posted this for ideas and things to think about should the time ever come. Like I said who knows what could happen or fall into place, at any rate its better to dream big than to wonder what if?

Sounds like the old Flat Woods of Bennett. My Grandparents were from Bennett and we have some land down there too. Don't get back much, other than Holidays.
