I got a Pro tools One shot hydraulic bender that if anyone wants to rent is cool. If you just have one project to do and don't want to spend the money on a bender. runs off of air, a small pankake compressor can run it. makes tube bending ridiculously easy. also have an angle finder.

1 3/4 die no problem bending DOM .120 wall

$20 bucks a day
$100- a week 7 day week

This has to be one of the coolest things anyone on here has offered. If i ever need to bend some stuff up I will let ya know.

hmmm, so would it do 2.5" exhaust pipe or no??

you need a different die to bend exhaust tube. all chase has is an 1 3/4" die

fwiw: I used my 2" die to do heavy wall aluminized exhaust tube (~14ga) for my crossover with no problems.. Did full 90s np.. -mike

PM sent! Bending Party in Willow Spring if anybody local is interested in going in with me and to help out! I have extra room for vehicles to set for a week or so. It will be in a couple of weeks. Got to clean out the shed and pour a mounting pad. The shed is open on 2 sides to work the tube.

The bender is mounted on a rolling table top, and is completely hydraulic so you can bend wherever you want i.e. the driveway, or any open space, no need for anchors.

How heavy is it? Can one person man it? Can it be transported in a truck bed? Can I load and unload myself? I also need to fab me a jig for my drill press to notch tube unless you got a notcher you want to rent as well?

Sorry for the crazy questions, I ain't exactly sure what I'm getting into here. I have a porta-band, a HD 7-9" grinder, a 5hp 25 gal compressor, Lincoln mig welder and some other cool misc. tools. I'm just south of Raleigh and have a few sticks of straight 1 3/4 waiting to be bent...
Go ahead and count me in for about 3 weeks worth. I need a couple of weeks to get ready.
Anyone else that's interested and/or just want to drop by, can. I have over a 1/2 acre of back yard that anyone who wants to park a rig while we bend is welcome. I also have a trailer for transporting if needed.

BENDING PARTY!

I just wonder how long until someone rents it for a week and forgets where it came from...
then the beat down begins

Not to try and make chase lose some money, but rent for 3 weeks = $300, buy the bender and die (minus the hydraulic stuff) for about $600. You would need a pad to bolt it to, and would also have to make a stand unless you want to buy one, they run about $130. Then again, if you rent it for 3 weeks, you will be in a rush to get your stuff done, and will probably get it done, if you buy one you won't ever work on your rig, because you can take your time :)

I think the point is for people that only need it for a day or a week. If you need a bender for 3 straight weeks, odds are that you would a;ready be purchasing one. I for one will probably rent it for a day or two in the future. I also dont have the space required to buy one for good. The wife will be OK with it taking up space if she knows it's temporary

I know the point, and I think it is an awesome idea. Just basically trying to tell the guy that wants it for 3 weeks that for $300 more he can have one of his own, heck, he could buy one and re-sell it and get more than $300 out of it.

If I had hydro on mine, I might would loan it out to people, but Chase is very trusting with such an expensive piece of equipment to loan it out to people he might not even know.

why you got to ruin his post, hes just offering a basic service! Im sure people are smart enough to compare basic costs for themselves.

hydro= no 3 weeks. about anything can be done in a weekend. unless building a chasis and then again if your building a chasis you probably already have a bender.

So for the cost of a harbor freight pipe bender that i would say half the board has you can do it with a hydo bender in 1/10 of the time.
even a good manual bender is slow and hard. By the way i priced manual benders and by the time it is shipped to your door and you have it set up you have about a grand in it.

the bender is on a rolling table that easily fits in a pick up or SUV and can be loaded with one person. all you need is tube, and an air compressor.

metto and I did the back half of my truck on a thursday (6pm-12pm) night after work, including all notching and welding it into place. the main hoop has 6 bends in it. it was are second time using the bender.

that bender is more like 1500 cheif, you dont know what your talking about

I may have over exagerrated. A weekend or two would probably git-er-done. I work all week and only have weekends and was considering the trip to Durham back and forth. Might just be a weekend thing. The deal still beats all other options.
For some reason I have a vision of my puny self passed out in the driveway after toting heavy tubing around and using a manual bender all day. I'm thinking hydraulic is the way to go. Manual labor has a hefty price tag on off days! The cheapest hydraulic I have found is $1250 not including the $150 dies and accessories, say $1500 total to your doorstep. $300 ain't sounding too bad to me. And $200 being probably more like it to do what all I plan on doing. And I probably won't need a bender ever again. Like I need something else in the back of my shed for the rest of my life. :-D
I'm still in! Nobody's made better sence to me so far... But my ears are still open! I love a debate. And I love to hear all options.
Northern Tool Bender? For some reason that don't sound too good... Precision plays a large factor in the cost of tube. A quality bender is a must.

Keep the con's rolling though! This is starting to get interesting...

Dude, thats my old bender he is offering. Simply the best you can buy for the money. The only better bender is a Mitler when it comes to speed, ease of use and portability. Good call Chase, you gonna build a rolling jungle gym?

I said $600 w/o hydraulics, mine was $602 shipped with 1 3/4" die, it is a JD2 Model 3.

Manual bending is not bad, a 90* bend can be done in about a minute. Don't use one from Northern, they are pipe benders and will likely kink the tube, but some people have had luck with them.

It's a manual bender, you use your back and a lever to bend. I have the same set up, but converted it to hydraulic after a couple of years. I got tired of manual.
