Through a little research on this topic I'm finding out that some 15x8 steel rims won't fit on 2003-2004 Tacomas due to the caliper rubbing the rim? Anyone had any issues with this?(I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything) I was really wanting 15x8 black steel rims with the "D" shaped cutouts(usually run $50-60) but now that only black steelies I'm finding that will fit are from WheelersOffroad with the circle hole cutout & it would cost over $100 to ship from Oregen to NC. Is this my only option? Thanks.

if it had 15s on it from factory then it will fit due to smaller rotors. Depending on wheel if they rub u can gring the caliper down to fit the bigger rotors that came with the stock 16".
Procomp has them and are sold at 4wheel parts on s. blvd charlotte. ask them if they have them in stock and go there and ask them to test fit. I had custom 16" RC w/ 2.5 bs made from procomp and they were on the cheep

I dont think you are gonna get 15's on an 04.

There might not be too much caliper left.

Even the 16's are a tricky fit.

hmmm...maybe 15's with 2.5 backspacing? Dont know if I have seen that tried before.

05 and newer had 17s, pre 05 came stock w 15s and 16s depending on rotor configuration.

I would highly not recomend running 2.5 bs wheel on ifs yota....
I am running 2.5 bs on 16x10s to fit 38.5 w/o rubbing my radius arms on a full width d44. just wanted to let the o.p. that there are many many options w custom wheels

Your are correct, but you may have mis-understood me.

The black d-windows in 15's will not go on an 03/04 without grinding or spacers, etc. Even with (rare) factory 15's the punch-out for the d-window hits. I have a feeling(could def be wrong) he has 16's now. In that case, he can use the round hole black steel wheels 16 x 8's with special backspacing for the tacoma 4wp part # is 87-6883T (I think)

*edit* This was as of 2 years ago when I worked at 4wp. may be some new wheels out now?

i was running 16x8 rockcrawlers on my truck w ifs and 305/70s i think 3 3/4 bs with no brake clearence issue.
My buddy was running 15" rockcrawlers on a 99 taco w/ 35x12.5 with no spacers. never heard of the "d" hitting anything on the hub flange
are you talkn about procomps rockcrawlers with the "d"?
04 hub flange are the same threw 95.5- 04 on 4cly (15s) and so on for 96-2002 4runners and some tacos (16s) dont see how it could rub.
The "d" only sticks out 1/4" or so.

***BTW Kyle you sold me my old wheels and tires in like 02ish when you were staring in the give it hell videos didn't relize it was you.....

I've got 15x7 oem steel rims right now on my '04 Tacoma. I had orginally ordered the rims from NTW & a rep called Monday & said the Pro Comps Series 52 15x8 rims I had ordered wouldn't fit due to them rubbing the caliper. I called 4WP today & will test fit the Pro Comps Series 52 rims(with the D shaped holes) when they come in next week. If they don't fit then they said I could bring them back & try another rim. Will they do a test fit for the rim at the store or do I have to take them home & try it?
