I am wanting to order new tires I have narrowed my selection to the Mickey Thomson Baja Claw or the Baja MTZ or the Procomp Xterrain. All will be 33x12.5 15. I am putting them on a 97 tj with 4 inch rc lift. I plan on going to URE a good bit but I also like driving my jeep around town and the wife doesn't like the howl of a super swamper. Any suggestions are greatly apreciated.

I love my ProComp Mud Terrains. I've seen the XTerrains on the trails and never been too impressed. I think you would be pleased with the Procomp Mud Terrains.

I ran Xterrains for years and though they were really good on everything (street, mud, rock). They are quiet at first, but get louder as they wear. I got over 30k miles on my 33's and 25k miles on my 35's, and I am extremely hard on tires.

I hated my 33X12.50 radial claws on the street. They were loud and wore like crap. Another thing to consider is the 33" claws are very small for a 33" tire. They did do pretty well off-road, though for a radial.

Thanks for the feed back. I apreciate the help I get from people on here I am new to the 4x4 scene and would like to avoid making the expensive mistakes. I know it will expensive enough with breakage, so I would like to avoid putting the wrong parts on to begin with. Again thanks.:driver:

just a suggestion toyo m/t. i REALLY like them great all around tire, drives like a a/t wheels like a m/t. im rolling with a 37X14.50x15's

I've ran 2 sets of 35" MTZ's. Great tire all around. My first set wore pretty quick on my truck due to the fact I towed alot of weight with it and such with it being a heavy truck also and the rubber was kinda soft. The 2nd set on my TJ wore great and still had plenty of tread when I took them off and sold them. I'll definately be bying another set at some point either when the TJ gets another set of street tires or either when the KM2 BFG's wear out on the truck

I love my MTZ's on the road or on rocks. I regularly air down to 8 PSI on steelie rims and have never blown a bead. Seem to wear pretty well too.

i've got 35" claws right now and they are great on the road and rocks. I'm not a big mud guy, so i don't have any information on how they do there. They are a little louder than my old BFG 33" muds, but thats to be expected with more rubber on the road.

Ditto on Claw noise. I had 31x11.5's before I lifted. They could be heard a mile away on the highway. At parking lot speeds they thump.
I'm on my third set of TRXUS M/T's, 33x12.5. They have the best wet traction on road rating of any mud terrain. Quieter than BFG AT on the road. And great traction in snow and mud.
I moved down from MA 1rst of November. I would go out in the snow storms just to have fun watching other people slide around while I move along safely with no slippage to speak of. And they throw mud very well too. Great for "painting" a Jeep.

If your looking for a good riding/wearing dual purpose radial tire you might want to consider the Maxxis Bighorn. I've been running 33x12.5x15's on my ZJ since early spring and they handle very well on road and have preformed well offroad at URE. They are not as quiet as the BFG AT's that were on the ZJ but they ride MUCH better and their not really all that loud.

I ran a set of 35" x terrains for a few years. They wore really well and did better than I expected off road. I ended up trading them for a set of boggers since I tow to the trail now.

well i found out last nite that the baja claws dont go in the snow so if your gonna be in the snow much rethink them the mtz go good in it.

I had 35" claws, they didnt wear well, were loud on the road and vibrated the whole Jeep when I would stop but they wheeled great! Yes they do suck in the snow/rain. Another thing is they are directional tires as well so factor that in. I am on Goodyear MTR's now, love em. Road friendly, quieter, dont wheel as good as the claws but they do the trick in mud (havent tried em on rocks). Claws are great on rocks.

.......ProCrap is garbage. Dont get that mess.

I now own Foreman1063 35 MTZ's and have not had a chance to wheel them real hard yet, but from the little bit of playing i have done around the house the seem real nice. The road noise is almost non exsistant even with some rock rash on them. I guess I'll find out more in May once URE opens back up.
