Bought a brand new P2 brake controller and the pigtail that plugs into the factory wiring for brake controllers. Hooked everything up, no power coming to the plug. Found the same 4 wires under the dash. Ran it off of those, no power. Is there a fuse somewhere that could be blown that is not in the fuse panel?

Anyone else have this issue?

I believe there's a fuse for it under the hood in the battery junction box. See if there are any blown, or missing. If the truck did not have the towing package on it from the factory then the fuse would not be in place. Your owners manual should tell you which one is for electric brake controller or may say something about "towing".

There may also be some relays you need to install in the BJB as well, IF your truck didn't have the towing package. Furthermore, if it didn't have the towing package, then you of course will need to put a 7-pin plug in the rear. Etrailer.com sells adapter kits. (Part #37185) If you do have the 7-pin connect (towing package), then you probably just have a blown or missing fuse.

The fuse (or possible 2 fuses) you are looking for should be 30 amp MAXI fuses.

The truck has had a 7 pin and 4 pin connector attached on a bracket next to the hitch since before I have owned it. Ive been hauling the same trailer for 8 months just with no brake control. Figured it was time to get that done. There is no battery junction box/fuse panel under the hood. The one in this truck is under the dash. Only two small boxes with a few relays just behind the airbox. It seems like everyone I read about has the fuse panel under the hood which is where I hit a dead end with this being a 2002.

You need to add the 2 relays under the hood. Most trucks came with em in the glove box, not installed, Check to see if you have em installed or not then should be good. Ford actually got something right... almost...
