Nationwide has always taken really good care of me. In 1999 I had very bad car accident that was my fault with lots of property damage and medical expenses for the person that I hit and they told me "don't worry about, they would take care of everything and accidents happen everyday". They did exactly what they said they would and my premium didn't increase nearly as much as I thought it would.
In 2004, my old Dodge was parked in Lincolnton. A man had a heart attack driving a Honda Civic and hit the truck going full force and did $8,500 damage. This man had Progressive insurance. They denied the claim stating a heart attcak was out of thier clients control. Was this my fault? I wasn't even in the vehicle. Needless to say, I was very confused and extremely pissed. Once again, Nationwide said don't worry, they would get it fixed and my premium would not increase. Nationwide did what they said they would do, then took suit against Progressive. Progressive eventually paid but only because it was the mans second heart attack.
Sorry to be long winded but I will never have Progressive insurance based on the principal of that particular situation. I know they're a typical big company just looking out for themself and did not want to spend a measly $8500 but the point is this; they were going to leave thier client out to dry because he had a heart attack and hit my truck. Denying the claim made it more likely for someone to sue thier client.
