just got my renewal notice in my email and progressive is hiking the rates 25%!!!!!WTF:wtf::poop:! i called and raised hell and apparently its our states fault, and its only happening in our state.

i have a pretty bad driving record so i was paying 120 month for me and 20 for my fiance and her xj, totaling 140.00 ....now they want 200 per month

anyone know of a good insurance company that has CHEAP rates
I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!:kaioken:

Alot of people raised hell when I told them I went with Geico. But they were 30 and 40 dollars cheaper per month than anyone else.

I have progressive and I didin't get a rate increase. The local place is pretty good to deal with.

when is your renewal? they said the state made them up it starting jan of this year...so if you havnt renewed yet this year it will go up....from what they said

hmmm, I've had progressive for probably over 10 yrs now, they have been by far the cheapest. Every so often I call GEICO or some of the other spammers guranteed to give me the lowest, and they never do. I have no claims, one ticket, and bare bones liability coverage on everything but the minivan. Renewal was very early Jan, and it was $30 cheaper/6 months than both payments in 2009. I guess I might need to shop around in June, but as you said, the state regulates it, everyone probably has gone up.

I have everything with Nationwide.

Vehicles: $92 per month
2005 Dodge 3500 with full coverage, OEM replacement, towing, etc.
1989 Toyota P/U with Liability and Comprehensive

Home: $504 per year
Built in 2005 $220,000 of coverage

Nationwide has always taken really good care of me. In 1999 I had very bad car accident that was my fault with lots of property damage and medical expenses for the person that I hit and they told me "don't worry about, they would take care of everything and accidents happen everyday". They did exactly what they said they would and my premium didn't increase nearly as much as I thought it would.

In 2004, my old Dodge was parked in Lincolnton. A man had a heart attack driving a Honda Civic and hit the truck going full force and did $8,500 damage. This man had Progressive insurance. They denied the claim stating a heart attcak was out of thier clients control. Was this my fault? I wasn't even in the vehicle. Needless to say, I was very confused and extremely pissed. Once again, Nationwide said don't worry, they would get it fixed and my premium would not increase. Nationwide did what they said they would do, then took suit against Progressive. Progressive eventually paid but only because it was the mans second heart attack.

Sorry to be long winded but I will never have Progressive insurance based on the principal of that particular situation. I know they're a typical big company just looking out for themself and did not want to spend a measly $8500 but the point is this; they were going to leave thier client out to dry because he had a heart attack and hit my truck. Denying the claim made it more likely for someone to sue thier client.

we moved our to liberty mutual 2 years ago, and my progressive rates dropped 40-50%....

of course I am in SC

I had Progressive for my bike because it was the cheapest. Right now I have General Casualty. I don't know if it is the cheapest, but they took care of me when I had an accident a couple of years ago, so I have stuck with them. I pay $112 per month for full coverage/comp on an 03 Liberty and 09 Civic SI with levels ($$$) of coverage in the middle of the range.

I have Progressive on the boat and just renewed. It didnt go up.

Is it JUST progressive that's hiking or all companies in NC? I know HOME insurance just bumped big time because of the coastal insurance issues.

Doesn't that make you feel good knowing your rates are going up to pay for the insurance of other people's vacation homes?

they told me it was JUST progressive....i think im gonna find an agent close to here and go raise HOLY HELL face to face....if it doesnt fix anything it will at least make me feel better lol!
