I picked up this 84 SR5 Longbed on friday. It has been nicknamed project A.D.D. because I cant seem to concentrate on one vehilce.

It is about as rust free and stock as I have seen in a while..paint to be redone shortly..I am thinking flat khaki like my old fj62 was.

These Toyota trucks have so much bang for the buck, and with the parts I(and friends) had laying around already and the availabitly of aftermarket will make for a quick build on this and I cant wait to go wheeling agian!! I just couldnt resist. :driver:

This is to be a trail beater budget build that will prob turn into a way over budget build.
It needed a rear diff and a tie rod when I bought it.
I installed a 5.29'd and welded diff I bought.
And installed a BudBuilt 3/8 tie rod with FJ80 ends I had
Other wise the truck is stock right now.

Soon to come:
Crossover steering--have double arm
front gears and locker-ordering today
30 spline longs/hub gears-purchased
cage-purchased used from 4Runner
tcase gears---and or duals--waiting for B/O
flat belly
(5) 38 12.50 15 Aetna-cut TSL's on 15 x 8 reverse shell RockCrawlers-stolen from another project
Suspension will be rears up front with 3rd gen rears in the rear. Both hybrid packs.

The 4 runner's cage required cutting the back of the cab out, so I busted out my favorite tool..the sawzall
Cage or truck may still need some mods to work, but I'll handle it.
Future plans include propane and turbo-got the turbo--thanks Snappy!
Only pic for now:

Going to do some masuring today, and this thing may be getting an extracab cab a buddy will give me. Looks like it will be much easier with the cage from the 4runner to have a little floor room behind seats. Guess that will require a double bobbed bed.

^^^BURN
He told me saturday it would be lifted locked caged and on its roof in one month. Ok I added that last one, but lets be realistic...

Kyle. The Xtra Cab would be a wise choice when it comes to an interior cage. It made it a LOT easier when we just built mine. Not that the Xtra part was very useable for anything more than a cooler.

Really? another one? hahaha Your driveway is already full! :flipoff2:

opening up some room for the tires.... I have always liked a rounded cut fender that follows the curve of the tire when stuffed in the wheelwell, and I got an idea last night:

lowered the truck and set the tire next to it, taped out the outline of the tire, and I think I have a good starting point. Buying a little air saw at HF to make the cut tomorrow.

Eidt, and those pics are with a real camea, that thing is hurt too. doh.

Picking up front gears(5.29) and a lock-right from 4wp today. Going all togther with the longs and hub gears, a little diff protection, front axle done.

Sorry Alex, was kind of an impulse order...called about 4.7's (think I called you on those too?) and after finding out it may still be a while went ahead and pulled the trigger on the dual adapter, and it went downhill from there.

Need a new camera..BAD

Got some work done over the weekend..here is a preview:
