I picked up this 84 SR5 Longbed on friday. It has been nicknamed project A.D.D. because I cant seem to concentrate on one vehilce.
It is about as rust free and stock as I have seen in a while..paint to be redone shortly..I am thinking flat khaki like my old fj62 was.
These Toyota trucks have so much bang for the buck, and with the parts I(and friends) had laying around already and the availabitly of aftermarket will make for a quick build on this and I cant wait to go wheeling agian!! I just couldnt resist.
This is to be a trail beater budget build that will prob turn into a way over budget build.
It needed a rear diff and a tie rod when I bought it.
I installed a 5.29'd and welded diff I bought.
And installed a BudBuilt 3/8 tie rod with FJ80 ends I had
Other wise the truck is stock right now.
Soon to come:
Crossover steering--have double arm
front gears and locker-ordering today
30 spline longs/hub gears-purchased
cage-purchased used from 4Runner
tcase gears---and or duals--waiting for B/O
flat belly
(5) 38 12.50 15 Aetna-cut TSL's on 15 x 8 reverse shell RockCrawlers-stolen from another project
Suspension will be rears up front with 3rd gen rears in the rear. Both hybrid packs.
The 4 runner's cage required cutting the back of the cab out, so I busted out my favorite tool..the sawzall
Cage or truck may still need some mods to work, but I'll handle it.
Future plans include propane and turbo-got the turbo--thanks Snappy!
Only pic for now:
