My buggy has a 22re on propane and several times when ive been hard on it and the motor dies it wont crank till it cools back off. This past weekend i was at gulches on shipwreck in the rain in 3wd and after a 10min rev limiter beat down it died and wouldnt crank back for 30min, coolant temp was only around 205*. Any ideas what the issues could be?

what do you have your timing set at? Alot of folks increase the timing with propane, which could lead to hot start issues.

Are you running an electric lockout or vacuum? Have you tested engine vacuum when hot vs cold?

Timing is more advanced cant remember the number, but it isnt the motor spinning it's like it isnt getting fuel.
Im running an electric lockout with a model e vaporizer

Have you checked the ignition while hot to eliminate it as the issue? I have seen coil and dizzy get heat soaked and start failing.

When trying to start while hot, can you purge fuel into the mixer and get it to start?

Yeah it will fire on ether when it does this and clear itself out, the purge button which i think is the one on the vaporizer doesnt seem to make a difference.

when you press the purge, can you feel/hear the fuel flow to the mixer?

Im sure you have, but does it make a difference if the throttle is open/closed when trying to start it, hot or cold?

Also, to clarify earlier does it die on its own when hot, or just not restart?

I can hear fuel when i purger the mixer
Throttle has little affect compared to temp
Usually it just wont go back to an idle and die out, it doesnt lack power or anything beforehand

check that the check valve(s)in the LP tank(s) aren’t closing because of the draw on the tank (shouldn’t on a 4cyl, but it happens) a Model E can outflow a forklift tank at high rpm, most LP engines are governed to 3500rpm, lift trucks usually 2600rpm to keep hydraulic pumps from cavitation.

tank position could be an issue, the valve coupler should be pointing down with the the bottom of the tank lower in an off-road environment, the tube inside should always be drawing liquid ‘pane. if your tank(s) are sweating this is an indication you’re pulling vapor and the liquid isn’t boiling off fast enough inside the tank to keep up.

also make sure the vaporizer isn’t freezing up, and you have sufficient coolant flow (it’s purpose here is to actually keep the vaporizer HOT) be sure you’re coolant is coming from the hottest port and not a cooler one, you want before the heater core if you’re using that and not being blocked by the control valve, sometimes even a restrictor in the coolant flow to/thru the vaporizer can help

I didnt realize the tanks had check valves but that makes sense, one time this issues happened and i swapped tanks and it fired right off.
Everything else you listed is correct i think so i guess the tanks are my problem, im suprised a 200ish hp motor could draw it down that far.
