I wouldn't pay more than 50 for an aluminum tank. Steel, maybe 40. It may not matter to some folks, but they go out of date 12 years from the date that's stamped on the tank. (2 digit month and year). After that, they need a recertification if your propane filler is a stickler for that. If you have a big aluminum one with a good date, I'd be interested. You could always knock a few bucks off since we're buddies and I haven't posted in your build thread.

They are still worth something around here. Some people can get theirs filled even out of date. Your friend probably gets them from his company once they are outta date.

Well his business is buying whole warehouses from all over east coast and sells off the usable machines/equipment/tools/etc.. So he gets quite a few of them...should see the phat welding tables he gets..its my little new piece of heaven for scrap metal, wire, sheet metal etc lol

I generally see the aluminum tanks go from $50-$75. Not sure what it cost to have one re-certified. What ever the cost of that is(make a call, and find out) just subtract it from the selling price. The small aluminum one you have pictured isn't what most use. Just too small. IIRC that one like goes on a propane powered buffer, or the like. The steel tanks while less desirable, can still be used, they just weigh about 20 pounds more than the aluminum ones.
