I'm getting ready to pull the thirds out of my toyota. I have pulled the rear before, no problem there. My question is the front. I have a service manual and understand how it says to remove the axle shafts, but i have also read about the shortcut method of removing a birf, which i know is attached to the axle shaft. So is this the best way to remove my axle shafts so i can pull the front third?
Pull locking hub cap and remove snap ring.
Unbolt seal/felts on back of knuckle.
Unbolt brake caliper and tie out of the way. (can be skipped if you have long brake lines)
Unbolt steering arm. (leave bottom knuckle cap alone)
Pull entire outer knuckle assembly off of axle.
Sawp in your parts.
Put it back together.
It's a big-time shortcut since you don't need to mess with the 54mm socket or wheel bearings.

Thanks for the input.

That'll work, if you want to rebuild the knuckles at the same time, just bring the entire housing over.

Thanks for the help guys. Ratman, its probably a mistake but i going to leave the knuckles alone for now, trying to keep this as low cost as possible. But thanks for the offer.
