Ok so I just installed a wood stove and have a question about prior homeowners gas line.
In the pic you can see there is a propane gas line coming up through the floor. Previous owner just cut the line above the valve.
The valve is about 18" away from the back of the stove so I don't think it would be a problem....but is there way to purge that line via the valve? I've read some say just open the valve after turning off gas at the outside tank. They claim the small amount of gas in the line (100 foot) will just dissipate.
I'm not sure about that so could I just crack open the valve and burn it off like a pilot lite.....or do I need an actual safety pilot to do that?
Thanks

Put an npt plug in the top of the valve and forget about it. If you are that worried about it disconnect and cap it wherever it tees off the main line.
