Ok so have an 02 gc w/ 4.7 and quadradrive.
80k miles

Has a whine/hum in the front end when you decelerate/let off the gas. Best I can describe it as is it sounds like a roller skate/blade with crapped out bearings slowing down.

Its the worst when your coming down from about 45mph to 0. Replaced the dside hub assembly and half shaft. The cv boot was torn so figured it would be a great place to start. Well neither solved it.

The gears didnt look to have any obvs wear but Im not a gear guy either. Changed out the fluid with the lovely 32 dollar a bottle mopar bs......still whines

Removed the driveshaft last night and the whine is down to nothing if not completely gone. Any ideas? suggestions?

Shaft seemed fine but had alil mud caked around the ujoints so gonna replace those tonight and see.

The full time 4wd trux are notorious for eating up the pinion bearings in the front 3rd member. we see this almost monthly.

I know it may sound dumb but you might want to check the driveshaft. I had a 2000 quad-trac that was making a noise like yours and changed the front shaft and it quit.

i could be wrong but i didnt think you were supposed to remove the front driveshaft out of a quad-trac case because it would burn the case internals up...something to do with the variable torque ratio....

ok after reading it appears as though 96+ Grands only have a vc on the rear driveshaft and not the front so yea i guess it cant hurt it...my fault

quadradrive /= quadratec
