Question about UNF opening day this year...

To help with water run off, since we usually have a wet Fall, an not so wet winter.. better to close earlier

Also to work with hunters and NC wildlife. The closing day is not set in stone.

Deborah Walker, Uwharrie District Ranger asked me to pass this along to all user boards
"So please post on the board there will not be any change in the trail
season for this year. Trails will open April 1st and close December 15th."
There is more to it than her making a decision, she has to go through many channels and although I think all of us would be happy with the changed dates, too many other users piped up and she could not make it worthwhile.

For me, Uwharrie will open up sometime in July, maybe even June if I get settled in enough

I called the forest ranger. they said The trails open Arpil 1st

I am 99% sure it has been passed around since Dec last year they made the change to March 1st.. I bet there wil be line of folks there on March 1st weekend trying to wheel..

Just heard that Ranger Walker was NOT able to get the opening date change pushed through. It is likely that URE will be opening just as it did last year, April 1.
