Many of you know that I’m retired and was traveling in my truck for a while with my Jeep. I have sold my Jeep and have my camper now and I’m starting a new adventure with that. For the rest of this year I’ll be living in my camper as a host at the cradle of forestry in pisgah. I’m unfamiliar with wnc and so question one is what do you y’all recommend I explore this year while I’m in the area. Question two is I’m supposed to move up there Monday. They have already warned us about wildfires but how close will I be really?

There are no active fires near the Cradle of Forestry. Parts of western NC are now receiving rain, fire resources are being scaled back, and evacuation orders are being lifted. Enjoy a beautiful area!

@Jody Treadway he might as well be a local given his short commute. Hit him up!

If you're curious and want to look at active NC wildfires.....

Be sure to bring your weed eater and lawn mower. We stopped at the cradle of forestry this past summer and thought it was abandoned when we pulled in, the weeds were so high.
