Ok, I’ve got a question..

What do you do, about a baby’s car seat, if you don’t have a truck or vehicle with just the front seat? Is it safe / legal to strap the baby’s seat in the passenger side?

IIRC, you're supposed to face the seat rearward, and shut off the airbag. My CTD has a switch on the dash...

There's probably something in your owner's manual about it.

My kids are older now, but I know that if you have a legitimate reason such as you are too short -- under 5 foot or if it is the only mode of transportation for you to haul your kids. you can legally have the dealership disengage the passenger bag for you. You will probably have to pay for them to do that. Hope this helps :)

This doesn't answer the question - it just reminded me of something.
Off on a bit of a tangent...
If you look REAL close in the fullsize version of my avatar, (below) you can just make out the carseat in the passenger seat.

YES - I took the child out BEFORE that pic was taken.
When my son and his mother went out wheeling a lot with me, I needed a better place to put the car seat.
So I made up some brackets that went between the seats on the flat area of the floor just behind the seats. The carseat hooked into the brackets more securely than it belted into the regular seat. We padded him up in his seat with some rolled towels so he didn't get bounced around so much.
It was almost like having him in his own little racing seat with 5 point harnesses.
:) :driver:
It actually worked pretty well and I felt better about having him there than I did in the passenger seat especially with no doors.
Now this is from a time long ago, in a land far away and is probably not really legal for carseats today. But I just thought I would share.

Yes, we did have permission at that time to ride that particular set of powerlines. Also probably illegal / off-limits today. Due to people leaving trash and riding off the trails on to posted property.

We have a 10 m/o so I had to do the homework on this too, was curious how it'd work in the old 4Runner.
Basically law says they can't be in front of an airbag, so most cars today that means back seat. I think most folks stick the seat in teh center rear, as this both leaves the primary seats open, plus its prob the most protected place being in the very middle of the car.
You CAN do front passenger IF no airbag, many cars do have a way to disable it (Our '97 Saturn does). In the 4Runner, the back seats are a royoal pain to get into anyway, much less to place a child into a rear-facing seat... so I put him in the front. No airbag, and I figure the truck is hardy enough there anyway that I feel okay w/ it.

The problem with that is It will disengage the entire system

Speaking of the Car seat Issue I wanted to put ours in the middle of the rear Seat in our 2000 Jimmy, but the center seat belts are too narrow and the seat will not fit. so he has to ride on the passenger side in the rear :(
