This has probably been beaten to death, but I didnt see it, so here goes...

I have a 99 dodge Ram 1500 4x4, 360, auto....
The engione is from a 2001, and has about 40k on it.

A buddy has a 16ft car hauler that i can use for my trip to Rausch Creek in PA in May...

Will I be able to drag my CJ7 (Approx 3600lbs) without any problems?

I was going to rent or borrow a tow dolly, but the trailer was offered, soooooooooooooooo.

Thanks,

Pete

years ago, I pulled a 76 bronco, on a 16' trailer, with a 96 ram, 1500 360/ auto. mostly to local mud races, so only 50 to 150 miles round trip. i personally did not have any problems. I would just suggest that you make sure you have working trailer brakes and brake controller, and take your time.

I have been seriously thinking about the tranny temp gauge...
Can I find one at Advance Auto?

Thanks

I tow my rig on a 16' trailer with a Ram 5.9 manual trans, you should be OK as far as power goes. I'm sure you have a trans cooler? It would give you peace of mind to have the temp gague, good idea. Definately need to have WORKING trailer brakes for the trip. Other than that you should be good to go :)

Have the tranny cooler.....Need the brake controller..... Where can I find one reasonably priced near Winston, and what can I expect to pay?

Thanks

Your truck should have a cooler on it. Take it out of overdrive and be easy up the hills you won't have any problems as long as you don't get stupid. Get a brake box installed to hook to the trailer. your truck is already wired for it. You can go to the dealer get a plug that plugs into a harnass under the dash right under the steering wheel. I think it's 3 wires mabe four. Easy to do. I pull horses jeeps trucks with no probems with a 01 Tahoe. Not daily just every now and again. Just drive with a little common sence.
