Quick 8.8 question.

Can anyone tell me if Explorer 8.8 shafts with drum brakes are the same as shafts with disks. I have a good selection of Explorer 8.8 axles at a local boneyard (with drum brakes) and would like to pick up some spare shafts for my 8.8 (with disks) in my TJ.

no they are not. The 96+ with disks have 31 spline shafts, the 96- w/ drums use a 28 spline shaft.

Just for the sake of doing it, I pulled the shafts on a '91 with drums and they are, in fact, 31 spline.

the fx4 rangers have the 31 spline/disc brakes though.

Not too many of those in the pull a part,though. Doesn't matter. I already have all the info and measurements I needed and what I figured was correct.
