I remember seeing on here some time back about retro fitting older R-12 systems to 134a and I thought someone had suggested another alternative that worked better than 134 in the older R-12 systems.
Looking for anyone with real world knowledge about the different options. Tried searching online but you find tons of old threads from the early 2000s and some even talk about using LP and butanes 😲

Any other practical options to get the most ice cubes from a 50 year old system?

Propane is better than r12 but i wouldn't recommend wrecking though could turn into a fire ball.
If you could find freeze12 it works better the r12 but ihavent seen that stuff in 20 years.
You can fine r12 just have to look for it.
I use r134 and just change the fittings and vac it and charge it works pretty good.

r152a aka computer duster. I’ve done two vehicles so far and both work great, 87 4runner and 92 d350.
