My dad is working on a 1955 Ford country sedan wagon. Factory motor and radiator what is looking for an alternative for a radiator fan. Attached you will see measurements of what he has and I am looking for your advice on the best option to put an electric fan on this to keep everything cool and happy. This is not a full restoration so we are not worried about using any sort of original factory parts other than the engine and rad. As always thanks for your advice in advance. Any other pictures of certain dimensions or spacing please ask and I will get them as fast as I can.

Doesn't look like a ton of room and definitely don't think you could run 1 big centralized fan due to the motor hitting the w/p. What about 2 staggered smaller ones? Say one top left and one bottom right where only the edge of the cages would be close together in the center of the radiator and leave plenty of room for w/p pulley clearance.

May be room for a single pusher in front of radiator but I personally don't like the look of a pusher fan on an old car.

To ad: the rad has been recorded to a 3 row, brass tanks. Motor is a stock Ford YBlock 272 .030 over v-8 w/390 cfm Holley 4 bbl.

I used a cooling components 1640 on my dad’s 55 Chevy when we did the LS1 swap. They had a bunch of different sizes at the time. A few years ago when I was researching they seemed like the best option we could find.

Look them up, they had dimensions on their site of the various units they offered.

Try to see if you can squeeze 2 of the spal 30102057. If not, 2 of the 30100435.

That's if you want to get 2 of the same size.

Max performance would probably be a 12" on one corner and a 9" on the other one.

If a Mod can move this I posted after one to many beer sauces. I shouldn’t have posted in gen chit chat and in gen tech. I apologize.

I know you said electric, but with the space, putting a mechanical fan with a good shroud should keep it cool. Either way, having a good shroud that pulls air from across the whole radiator is critical to keeping it cool.

I should update: Dad just couldn’t find a combo that he liked (realized he didn’t really like the look of electric). He bought a mechanical fan from Derale and is going to fab up a simple shroud. These cars from the factory had a 3blade fixed fan w/no shroud at all so I’m pretty sure anything will be an improvement!

Agreed. A fixed blade fan with a good shroud should keep it cool.
