Raising Chickens

Butcher came today, lots of fat, I would guess about 80lbs of meat per pig (avg) and 20-30lbs of fat, but I haven't actually counted. I was busy today butchering ducks with the 75° weather, and shuttling pork up to my uncle's freezer.

Freezer pic is two pigs, minus sausage as he did that last.

Would anyone in Winston Salem or surrounding areas be interested in some free pigs to raise for slaughter? There are two females currently probably 130-150lbs, and I think 2 more females and two males probably currently 90lbs or so. I can't take them as I don't have a place to put them. My finders fee would be I get one of the females come slaughter day (can use the mobile butcher, I pay for her processing). I can help with catching them, and can possibly get a trailer to haul them in if needed.

First time ever smoking anything. Did a loin and a jowl. First time ever eating jowl---- I am not disappointed that the guy that took one of the pigs didn't want the jowl, YUM!.

I don't think raising my own bacon is going to do anything good for my figure. But hey, I am 40 now, this is where you are supposed to start getting fat anyways right?
