Hello all, I found this site from IH8MUD.

I have R&P gears I need installed in my Cruiser. I've already searched this subject and contacted the two main locals I've found so far on these forums. One doesn't return messages and the other is booked for some time. Are there any other shops that might be referred for this kind of work in Raleigh? North Raleigh if possible.

I'm not looking for the least expensive, rather the most reliable. Preferably someone who's not going to blow smoke up my arse. I'd like to have this knocked out in like three days or so total.

Thanks in advance,
Luke

I'd wait for watts to get back with you, he may just be out of town for the holidays... Keep calling, his work will be worth the wait..

Gear install

Check with Down East Offroad in Wilson, NC. 252-246-9440
They are the only ones that I know of that offer a 1 year parts and labor warranty.
Talk to Rob or Brandon
Let them know I sent you.

Gear Installers are few and far between in Raleigh. I know a machinist that does them but he's so backed up it takes him Months if not years to get to them. I did my own last time but it took me all weekend but I got them right. Should go quicker next time since I know the rutine but it sure sucks having to take all weekend to do something that someone experienced can do in 3 hours.
Anybody know what DownEast charges? I've got another set of axles to gear myself. I've visited their shop. Very nice folk down there. Showed me all around. They like to show off their work!

Cant vouch for these guy's work but I stopped by their shop last friday and had a nice chat with 'em ..... nice guys. the shop is called Raleigh Four Wheeling, they're on Westgate road in North Raleigh. they do indeed do axle regearing. sry. no contact info

Sorry guys, I haven't beeen getting back with anyone cause I'm about a month behind. I'm just finishing up last years stuff and now my jeep is on the lift. I should be done with that sometime around the end of feb. I've been trying to work on it for 2 years now and I finally got started. So again sorry for not getting up with you.

But on the up side...maybe I'll be able to wheel again!!!!

Is this the new iteration of "Four wheelin of Raleigh" from a few years back?

I think so, Rich. I used them once (ONCE) and while they did the work, it took almost 5 days for one axle and cost, well, let's just say it was more than I expected.

the kid at raleigh fourwheeling and his dad used to run it together the kid giot out but the old man still works there. he knows his stuff on gears has probably done as many as anyone but he'll charge you to death marks gears up to like $550 and charges top dollar on the set up.

Yup, sounds like them!

so wait, is it still Four Wheeling of Raleigh or is it now called Raleigh Fourwheeling?

I think one of the new names they were going to use not sure if they did was:

"Rear End Specialist"

that could be a porn movie name :)
