Anybody know of some good powerlines or logging trails around the Raleigh area?

powerlines are illegal, as are the majority of logging trails. unless you have permission to some private land, there is nowhere legal in the raleigh area to go.

I did a quick search and found some stuff. Sorry for not searching before:)

Everytime someone new posts this i keep thinking we aught to have a sticky that lists the legal places to ride in NC and Probably SC, Tenn, and Virginia and has a disclamer at the top saying that powerline trails, etc. are illegal (basically the same thing we reply everytime)

Cause its not the newbs fault for postin the same thing over agian cause he has no way to know since he is a newb so if we had the sticky we could at least say read this sticky with the link pasted below for them to click on instead of having to repeat ourselfs multiple times.

I know this idea has been suggested before by others but can't remember why it hasnt been done cause it would be pretty quick and easy to list em out and the mod could add/detract from the list as new ones pop up, heck I wouldn't mind makin it and bein the mod for it cause Every newb is gonna want to know where to wheel. I sure as heck know that I did, and still do like to find new places.

Why? No one reads them. There's also a new invention, called the search button that never gets used.

You know how many times we answer the same questions over and over.

whats a sticky??? new concept?

When a person signs up the first pm they should get should tell them to use the search, dont ask about lleagal wheeling, sponsering, and any other commen n00b thread unless it was not coverd in the search. maybe even links to threads about wheeling in thier first automatic PM

whats a sticky???

A sticky is those posts that are always there at the top of the list when you open the forum

I like the automated pm idea as well but once agian like Rob said thats another one of those things that people will probably Ignore. I don't know I just think that A sticky that has a lit of ridin places around this area by location with like a link to a website that has further info for the different places would be the most effective way to go. I mean I could even title the Sticky "where to wheel in and around NC" it'd be kinda hard for a newb to miss that when they open up the Chit Chat section. And like I said I wouldn't mind doin it, i just want to get the blessing of the mods and work with them on like what the disclamer paragraph about illegal trail riding/powerline trails at the top should be.

Um, I think you guys missed that her statement was sarcasm. Unf this does not always come across on text.

I like teh sticky/PM idea. Agreed that you cannot blame the new folks. I joined up on thsi board just to ask the same damn question.

My statement was sarcasm as well. :)

For some reason I always feel the urge to pick on purpleTJchick. ;).....lol

A sticky sounds like a good idea...put a big banner on it, something like

*********** ATTENTION NOOBS - READ THIS FIRST ****************

I think the title aught to be something like "where to wheel around NC" or something like that if because if you were to post atten newbs read this first then it really wont get read because they will think its another Rules/guidelines sticky and thats the ones people ignore.

how about a short quiz about the rules and such PRIOR to your registration approval ?

that'd weed out of folks due to shear lazyness ( "I gotta take a test to join ? Fawk that !" )

I would suggest that a list of trail systems be availbile. and as new ones are located and verified the list could be updated.

these of course would be open to the public with no writen permision needed.
we could have a closed thread sticky that only the mods could update.

Yea exactly, would clear things up for newbs and make a good list for all others to check off as they conquer each with their rigs :driver:

Like I said, if ya'll (mods I mean) don't feel like Makin the sticky and keepin it up to date I don't mind doin it at all, I'm on here like 10 times a day anyway, lol. I probably would post links to other websites that have more detaied info on each area along with there locations and a quick review of what is there to do.
