2005 Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4x4. It did not come with factory fog lights. I'm considering adding some fog lights. Are the factory fog lights worth adding? (For instance, the factory fog lights on my wife's WJ aren't worth turning on. ) Or should I go with aftermarket lights on a light bar on the front bumper? My daily commute is always in the dark, so I want some fog lights that make a difference, especially when it rains and the roads are wet.

I put some Warn fog lights on my daughters Xterra for xmas. I was pleased with the light. They came with rock guards and remote control so wiring thru firewall wasn't necessary.

The factory fogs on my 2003 ram were great. My 2007 is just as good if not better. They're fogs though, you won't get distance out of them. They do a great job of lighting everything below the head lights.

X2. They're worth buying. Steve White in Hickory seems to be the best place to buy OEM accessories. They have the cheapest price on ebay and they will negotiate.

Thanks, I've seen Steve White on Amazon selling filters, but didn't see any lights. I'll check again and I'll look for them on ebay.
Any reason I can't or shouldn't just use a typical switch and relay vs. a factory switch? I don't want them to turn off when the hi-beams are on.

I'm a fan of making it look as factory as possible. So if you have the option of factory fogs with factory switch then go that route. There are ways to stop the fogs from turning off. Some of the programmers can do it for example. Honestly, I rarely use my high beams and the fogs turning of has never bothered me.

fog lights are not intended to do anything but provide light under the fog. they are not driving lights and if you mount them low like fog lights should be, but adjust them for normal driving then you will blind every one comming at you. so proably best to mount them above your bumper.

Nick has a point. I'm not sure if the factory lights on our trucks are driving lights or fog lights. They are mounted low.
