Today's my wife's birthday. She wanted a day of adventure and new trails.
Got up early, made it to Elk Knob State Park mid morning.

Decided to go across the mountain the loooong way. Ended up in Virginia at Grayson Highlands State Park for a waterfall hike.
Hiked the Cabin Creek Trail and explored around the campground a bit.

She's always dreamed of seeing the wild ponies there. We had time before sunset to hike up Rhododendron Trail to a bald. Sure enough, we saw 7 of them. She got better pics as I was busy with a misbehaving malamute who has a special high pitch sonar call when he sees a horse.

Gotta say, pretty solid birthday for her and I had a blast too. Puppies passed out in the minivan all the way home.
