Anyone on here into it? I want to get one and know nothing, anyone interested in giving a newb a crash coarse? I am looking at an AX-10 and Berg but thats just based on looks...haha

A buddy and I got AX-10s over the summer. They are great. I got a complete package from ckrc. Everything was included and putting it together was part of the fun.

i run a walmart special "nylint" Its been slightly modded with more lift, wheelbase stretch, grooved tires, comp cut, ect. Still alot of fun and under 50.00!
Hey, we can't all spend a grand on a little toy ;)

The Axial ARTR would be my suggestion. Comes with most of Axial's "competition" parts, good tires, and a decent price tag of less than $250. If you have never had a crawler the Axial is a good starter kit, and WIDELY used so parts are very easy to find. The Berg would be better if you want to enter lots of competitions, and spend lots of money on electronics, but you better know what you are doing to set one up right.

Not sure which Union Grove you are in, but if you are near Winston-Salem, I've got a friend that owns a hobby shop (just opened in April) that most of the time keeps an Axial ARTR in stock.

Tamiya also makes a decent rock crawler base....

its called the TLT-1.

MAKE SURE...if you are buying any electric truck, like you should be if your into rock crawling R/C's...as gas is too hard to regulate throttle....

that you budget for batteries, and a nice charger, DO NOT skimp on the charger. I did and I regret it..

i want to build one that i saw on the rc crawler forum. has a yj body, an actaul frame and leaf springs and solid axles. looks just like the real thing but costs about a grand

i think it really depends what u want to do with it . enter comps, carpet crawl on rainy days, build and modify cause u just get bored,or my fave is scale builds . the ax10 is a very well rounded crawler but min cost for good set up is $500 . if u just want to play around the house losi mini crawler is my choice and with a few cheap mods will hold its own for $250 so its your intended use and budget. here is my latest scale build with a losi crawler

and this is my freinds modded losi that will hold its own to an ax10 we made the chassis with 1/8 lexan and wb was 8" now 10"

now we are building a tube buggy chassis for a losi

I love that K-10 body on these things, no matter what i do it will have that body in one form or another. I like the comp cut ones i have seen too. I think the scale stuff is almost too hard to resist, its like making your 1:1 dreams come true for a 10th the cost! However I want my first crawler to be a nice combo of both styles more based on maximum performance and appearance second.

i used to be in the hobby pretty heavy. we started a club called Carolina Rock Runners but i think the club went defunct or merged with another NC group. it all got too competitive for me. Our website is gone, but theres another one for NC somewhere

I am also thinking about the Losi mini crawler, someone said they are a little better crawler out of the box, I dont want to get too crazy spending money and you could practically use it indoors...opinions other than pete's??

this from the guy who spends tons of time and money buying building and racing dirt bikes built for 6 year olds...
talk to me super-pete...

First off I always have got my money back from all the pitbikes I have built and got something out of riding them $$-trophy's, 2nd why not put some gas in that indestructable truck you bought and wheel it every once in awhile instead of spending it on a toy when you have the real thing?? Keep it coming I am ready if you are:flipoff2:

Would you be interested in a another awesome pit bike. My good friend has one that he is trying to sell......

I got a wheely king new off of ebay for a good price then changed "frames", locked it front and rear and relocated the battery. Definitely fun as hell.
Though it hasn't been touched in almost a year...
