I'm planning on dropping the stock pump assembly into the top of the RCI fuel cell but the old tank is 10 inches deep and the new one is 12 inches deep. I don't see a way to pull the pickup out of the pump to extend it down. Is the extra 2 inches of fuel worth the effort or just drop it in and go?

just curious why you want to reuse the oem in-tank stuff...

seems like as many problems as us YJ guys have with our fuel gauges it would be a great upgrade to move to a gm sending unit and the external electric pump of our choice.....

fuel cell

my stock fuel system works great and doesn't leak or smell like gas. I made the fuel cell system exactly the same. I even put in new vapor valves to pull gas fumes off just like stock. No need to reinvent the wheel and introduce more problems than I have to.

gotcha.... good plan then. you would get along good with the tj guys as thats what most of them do....

only downside to this is when you are offcamber and low on fuel... you now have only 1 pickup and no sump like oem. have you figured out a way to address that with the stock pump?

when i was thinking about going this route i was considering using walbro multi-point pickups and tryign to somehow fasten them to the bottom of the pump.... replacing the strainer....

The new tank is deeper than the stock tank but I did extend the pickup all the way to the bottom of the tank. We'll see how it works off camber. Ordered the steel for the skidplate, waiting...
