As the title says, what are some realistic MPGs both city and highway from diesel trucks from 2003 to 2010? I know you don't get a truck for MPGs, but just looking for some real world numbers.

Depends on what emissions are on it. 03-10 is a pretty big range, considering they got a different emissions package about every 2-3 years.

Mine's an 03 CTD 4wd 6spd. Most times, it gets about 18. Highway mileage depends entirely on speed. Run 60, get 20+. Run 80, get 16. 2wd trucks get a mpg or two better. It gets 9-11 towing our gooseneck enclosed, grossing about 24k.

From my experience, if you are just driving, not really trying to milk it for every mpg, 13-15 city, 17-18.5 highway. Thats what ive seen with an 04 cummins, 07 cummins and an 06 duramax. Seems like most of my trucks have averaged around 15.5-16 most of the time, thats mostly 2 lane 55mph country roads.

I have an 06 superduty. Get about 13 around town, 15-16 running in the 70's, and about 18 running 55-60. Usually 9-10 towing my gooseneck and jeep.

I have an 02 cummins, 6spd, 4x4, 4.10. Basically stock w/ 305s.

Mixed driving i get ~15 no matter how i drive really.

About 12 towing my trailer & rig. Nothing heavy.

Both of these are in line with my 05 Cummins Dually 6spd

Averaged 6.8 mpg going to Harlan and back this weekend.
OPEC loves me.

06 ram 2500 cummins. 15 city, dont do any highway to calculate the other. weather i'm milking the mpg or just driving like welll me, i get 15in the city.

08 superduty 4x4 with 6.4l - 12-14 city, 17-20 on highway depending on speed (using cruise control) and 9-11 towing 10k.

My 04 durmax cc 4x4 dually i used to have got 15-17 on highway empty depending on speed. 14-15 city and 12-14 towing a camper depending on going to mountains or beach.

07 6.0
50-65 18.5
75-90 17

towing - 14

ARE U talking GAS? Man, my little 5.7, gets average 10, towing 6K!:p
No. This thread is about diesel trucks.
2008 Duramax LMM cc/drw 4wd. Grossing 25,000 at least when i leave the crib.
Two rigs, two dogs, one wife and a TON of spare parts.
Paul...

Just put the first full tank in my 03 Duramax. Hand calculated 17.5mpg, with a mix of 80mph highway driving, and crank up-go 3 miles-cut off driving for the 4th with the wifes family, all with the AC running full blast. Factor in that its a new to me truck with a Hypertech programmer, and I've been dogging it and showing off, I think thats pretty good. The built in unit on the truck was saying 20.4mpg, but its obviously optimistic.

Older than you asked for with my 2001 Ram, but I've gotten 19.5 mpg on the highway unloaded, and 13.9 mpg towing my Samurai. That is corrected mileage for tire size.

Not as good as Kelly, my 01 Ram with the 5 speed does about 16-18 empty, and 11-12 towing the gooseneck.

I have an 01 Excursion with 7.3, chipped, straight pipe, 8" lift and 37's with 3.73 gears. I towed to Florida doing 70-75 and got about 12 mph pulling my full width XJ and 6 lug trailer. When I slowed down to 65 I was getting about 14-15 and when I drafted a van or semi I got 18-19.

I am curious to see what 5.13 gears and 42's will get me.

I know this is for newer trucks, but the truck in my sig has a 92 model VE pump Cummins and after some extensive testing, tuning and some good parts (cam, turbo, injectors, etc), I've gotten 22 on the highway (empty) on 39s. Towed to VA and back and averaged 14 when it was stock.

Depends on if you're going to be leaving the newer truck stock or not. Some tuning and freeing up of intake and exhaust air will net some good mileage increases. The emissions stuff really chokes them out. A friend with an 03 Dodge seem to be stuck around 14-15 empty no matter what he does.

03 cummins 2wd 200k miles stock other than 50hp injectors. Hand calculated 23.4 unloaded 18-19 with my goose and 16.3 hauling the runner on the goose. I'm HAPPY!

If you're on 39s, how do you have any idea what kind of mileage you're getting?

No emissions on an 03, BTW.

I get around 16-18 in my 07 on 37's. Stock height with 34's was around 17-20. Don't tow long distance any so hard to tell towing mileage but the lie o meter usually go down to around 14 pulling my deckover gooseneck and its usually about 2mpgs over actual.

Just got back from the west coast (about 6300 miles total) and my 02 Ps got 8-9 pullin a 32 foot camper in the 60hp tow settin,2wd,cc,auto w a Jon woods valve body.Mileage since the tuner has gotten better but havent had the truck empty long enuf to get a exact #.
