i got a 93 jeep grand cherokee with a dana 35 in the back and want to swap it out with a chrysler 8.25 will the buckets for the coil springs out of a jeep libertiy match up or will i need to go with a one out of a xj

The only direct swap for your d35 is a 44a out of a another grand cherokee. All v8 grands from 96-98 had the 44a and it will bolt right up to the rear of your grand.

IMO, the 8.25 is only marginally stronger than your d35. The rear 8.25 was also leaf sprung and your grand is coil sprung, so there would need to be a lot of brackets made to make it fit. If you want a real upgrade, go with a 8.8 out of an explorer, but that will also take fabrication to make it fit.

yea ive heard abt the dana 44a but are they hard to finf and what are the dementions im tring to beaf up without spending alot cause im worried abt my tranny i just had it rebuilt and is the dana 44a worth a dang

and i just read im better off with what i got and also heard that the dana 35 is weak too and that what ever axle i switch with is gone have to be fabricate 8.8 here i come
by the way wht do u have let me guess dana 60
im tring to sell mine but until then im gone keep workin on it but if i get the 8.8 will spacer make it weaker with my 33's on 17in Mickey Thompsons

what im tring to do is what ive read from this web sitehttp://www.fourwheeler.com/projectbuild/129_0803_jeep_cherokee_ford_88_axle_swap/index.html who ard here can weld these brackets and do a true and good job man im ard greenville nc.

and do they make 4.10 gears for a dana 44a cause i might still go with the dana 44a cause right now its strickly off roading but i like 2 drive it alot on the street then hit the mud holes on the weekend. if i get the 44a all i would have to do is gear it out and im thinking it would save me money as well as beef it up temporarely while i build my 8.8 on the side and save my money so i guess i need to find a dana 44a any body ??????

the coil buckets from ballistic those are for the rear right i cant tell the image is so small to me it looks like a front but i cant tell

really tho who around here can i take my jeep to with all the part ring pinion axle and all and get them to fabricate and instal the gears in the front and back cause if im gone do it, and i want it done right. oh yea what size blistein shocks do i need to match up with my 4.5 inch lift kit. dang i wish i had a sponsor ha ha. Saving up to rebuild or sell and buy a jeep liberty with the 2.4L turbo disel 295 ft lbs of toque see wht thats all abt disel gear it up lift i bet it looks sick

WOW, it's called punctuation my friend. :D Also you can edit a prior post so you don't have 4 or 5 posts back to back.

OK, first of all you can go with a TJ conversion kit, but the coil buckets and shock mounts are a little different on a ZJ. Iron Rock Road makes a ZJ 8.8 conversion kit, as well as a Clayton Offroad.

I am in the process of swapping in an 8.8 in my 93 as well. I went with the Clayton bracket kits.

As for the 44a, you can get gears for it, but the biggest downside to the 44a is locker ooptions. The only locker on the market is from Aussie, and they are not cheap. If this is a almost fully dedicated offroad rig, then Here is what I would do. Find a 44a in a junk yard (they are not too hard to find), and if you want a locker, just weld the spider gears (lincoln locker). Does your ZJ have the 5.2 or 4.0? If it has the 5.2, your gear ratio is 3.73 and all 44a's also have 3.73s. If you have the 4.0, you have 3.55 gears, so if you swap a 44a in, you will have to regear the front to match it.
