Hello first post here, I am looking to swap a Crysler 8.25 from a '00 XJ into my 89 Cherokee (D35). From what I have read this should be fairly straight forward swap. I was hoping to get some more advice on fit/ add'l fab work. There was also some mention of drive shaft length issues in other forums. I have a 3 in. lift would my stock shaft work? Any help would be great.

stock shaft should be fine. new axle should also bolt right up. does the new axle have the same gear ratio as the old one? they need to be the same so it matches the front axle ratio

The D35 is a little shorter than the 8.25, therefore the D35 driveshaft is a little longer to make up the difference. Since you lifted it and still have the D35 'long' driveshaft, I bet the 8.25 would be fine.
I believe the axle tubes are different diameters (D35 smaller), so new U-bolts will be needed. I'm not sure if the spring plates are slotted or there are 2 different plates.

Parking brake cable?

same fittings for brakes?

shocks and wheels will bolt right up.
