Just a quick question-

I'm in the middle of a 5" rear axle stretch on my TJ and was wondering what you guys have done or recommend for increasing the brake line length.

Tarheel has a ~6" longer line than stock for $39, will that work?

Clayton (maker of my suspension kit) usually extends the hard line and re-uses the current brake lines. But I don't have a parts list or numbers for that and didn't want to guess.

Thoughts?

Id go to my local parts store and buy a 1ft extension with the flares and all already done. prob cost ya a few bucks...

Iirc, that's just a regular 3/16" flared hardine. No PN needed, get a section, cut it to length and flare it yourself or use a pre-made piece from vatozone.

If you're set on a longer softline, dakota lines are pretty long and cheap. I think mine was about $20 new and was way longer than the stock XJ line.

isnt there a GM pickup truck application that is bolt-on for TJ/XJ/YJ ?s

Might be thinking up front, I've got GM 3/4 ton soft lines on the front of mine. Cheap and considerably longer than the stock lines.

In the rear the dakota softline is a good fit.

I met you at gulches a few weeks ago...clayton streched green tj. I extended the hard line like mentioned above. You can get yhe line and a flair tool for less than 20 bucks.

Ha! I was talking about your rig all weekend. Can you measure from the center bolt hole on the frame (for your tc skid) to the front of control arm mount? Originally I was at 8 1/8", but I'm thinking about bumping it out to 9"s.

Is there a benefit or drawback of going with a longer soft line vs extending the hard line? I could do either one now, just curious if one has greater advantages over the other.

less swelling firmer brakes

The longer softline will be less junctions than extending the hard line. Also, you won't have to relocate any mounting points. Either one should work just fine though.
