i added a 4" suspension and 2" shackle lift to my 95 yj , it rides great but on take off you can feel some hopp in the rear do you think my driveshaft angle is too much? or what else could be causing this? if i did the cv conversion at the transfer might this eliminate this problem ? it bugs the crap out of me and i know it isnt good for it:confused:

Go back and make sure nothing has worked it's way loose after the initial install.

Other than that you should not need a traction bar on the street, being spring under.

I have seen the driveshaft bind on some yjs after a 3" lift, but only under full droop.

i am going to retorque everything tommorrow and see what that does , to me the angle looked pretty good but slip yokes do suck you know

I have a 95 YJ with the BDS 3.5" suspension lift and the 2" shackles in the rear. Did you install shims or relocate the spring perches to account for the angle? Did you use a transfer case lowering kit? I had to do both. Did you measure the angle of the t-case output and the axle yoke?

yep all done , i found today the source of the problem maybe i have a universal in my rear driveshaft going bad:rolleyes:

I "think" you can actually drill out the holes on the strap style yoke and replace the strap with a U bolt...might want to research (Search) on that some.

I would guess axlewrap too IF you have springs over axle or is it just taller springs? Even then you might have enough leverage on it now to wrap them?

I broke several dshaft ujoints with axle wrap, sigh...

Sam

changed it over too u-bolt today, after last night when i broke a u-joint:rolleyes: oh well now i have new u-joints in the rear shaft and no more straps

It's actually pretty common for a drive shaft to mysteriously start giving you crap right after a lift, I know several people that it has happened to. When I put on my 4" lift there was no problem, but when I bumped it up to 6" my rear drive shaft damn near shook my teeth out. Rebuilt the shaft, and it's been good ever since.
