Red Top Optima

From what I have been told, they DO NOT like a fast charge. As of yet I have not had experience one way or the other.

Really, that holds true for any battery..

I put mine on a 6amp charge, and let it take all day.

I've had a Sears 6/2 since high school, was like $30. I would spring a few more bucks for a 10/2 automatic one, that will shut off when full charge is reached.

It's not fast, and certainly won't jump start a lawnmower, but it has recharged my red top 2 times form pretty much dead so far, from me being a dumbass and leaving something on.

a decent 2amp trickle charger would be great, can be had for ~$20ish

let it charge all night, you'll be golden in the AM ( just don't start the truck with the charger still on)

SLOW charge is best, lets the charge saturate the plates of the battery (spiral or otherwise)

Shumacker ( or something like that brand name) has decent chargers, something with multiple settings would be even better but the more features, the more $$.

A Float charger is the best to maintain, not to charge. It won't kill your batteries and is safe to leave on all the time. It just maintains it. I have had as many as 6 batteries hooked up at once, and it kept them all fresh.
