Im installing a class 3 hitch on a 2000 xj sport 4.0l . if we put it on like the instructions say to and torque it down, it well bent the flange on the frame. it has spacers included in the kit but does not say to use them.

any help?
do I put the spacers in?
 
torque it down tight and bend the flange. it wont hurt anything, you'll just bend it up flush.

on a related not, you do have a nutstrip for the driverside don't you? if not, go to the jeep dealership and buy one or make your own. not having a nutstrip in there has the potential to cause a lot more problems than a bending that lip. ripping the bolts and washers through the "frame" is not a fun problem to fix. ask me how i know.
