Anyone rejetted a carb on a atv before? I just bought a 03 vinson that has a snorkle and I am going to add a aftermarket exhaust and want to rejet the carb to make the mix correct for the higher air flow but not sure how to do it and what is involved in doing it. I work on cars for a living so dont think it would be to hard just wanting to get some input or maybe another site that has some pics.

Thanks
Brandon

I did it to my Honda 300. it was pretty easy. I'd never really dug into a carb before and I just followed the directions and it worked well for me. I can't remember the brand I got but I know I did get it from highlifter.com. Shop around they can be had pretty cheap. I know mine came with a bunch of jets.

The kit I used on my Z400 was very simple. It was a dynojet kit and came with several jets for specific mods and also the altitude. The hardest part of the install was getting the carb in a position where I could access it to install the jet.

I just took my whole carb off of the quad to gain access. cleaned it up real good in the process.

I used DynoJet as well

thanks to everyone I found a new slip on exhaust and it comes with new jets but just wanted to see if it was something that I thought I could do your drop it off and pay but seems easy

Brandon, on my old Sportsman 500 I rejetted that. I just poped off the carb and went step by step. Mine also came from High lifter with a pipe and K&N. I had no problems at all.
DynoJet had good destructions:lol:

I got the pipe from HMF and put in the jet they sent with it but now it wont start unless the choke is off and then after about 10 min of riding the exhaust is glowing red. I think it is running lean anyone have any ideas? I thought about getting a few other size jets and trying those and go from there.

Yeah you're running lean. Don't run it like that. Contact hmf tomorrow and see what they say. They should send you another jet. You need a bigger one.

Compare the stock jet size to the one you put in. If you can´t get a good response from HMF, just buy a DynoJet Jet Kit and pick the size jet you want. Obviously you figured out how to change the main jet.

Also make sure BOTH jets are not clogged. Sometimes sand or junk from your fuel tank can get in there and stop up the smaller jet that controls idle and part throttle conditions.
