How did you pay through PayPal, was it a scredit card?
If so, you can takle it up with the CC company, dispute the charge. They will re-charge him for it until at least it is rsolved.

Our paypal pulls from our checking account unfortunately. I will probably buy via credit card from now on from businesses. good point.

This , I would also be concerned about. not of this transaction
but any thing thru paypal and your regular account
is a accident waiting to happen.
