What is the best way to remove the clutch line? Pushed the white retainer in but still won't come out.

I have had the issue before, seems previous installer had maimed the collar rendering it useless.
We ended up replacing the master and slave, Master was at the time a dealer only part, as it comes with the line from master to the coupler, was like $70 if I remember right ( 8 years ago )
