Figured with the wide variety knowledge, somebody might have the answer.

Looking for a way to remove signage/etc. stuck up with foam tape. IIRC, someone told me what to use to dissolve the tape & adhesive WITHOUT hurting the painted sheetrock wall, but can't remember what it was. :shaking:

Any experience welcome!

Goo-gone will probably do it.
Are you concerned about the paint, or just the paper covering the gypsum?

The problem is that stuff would soak through it. I've had luck with ice to make it hard enough to cut with a razor and then shave it down to nothing.

Both... previous attempts to get it off resulted in peeled paint & paper!

With GBG/Goof Off, it will soak into flat satin finishes and leave a stain... already been there. Hopefully, the swap to 3M "Command" adhesives will negate this going forward... after we get all the rest peeled off.

Magic eraser from Mr.Clean does wonders.....Might try that

I hope you have a better time than my wife. She redid our bathroom, the previous owners decided it was a good idea to wallpaper right on the sheetrock. So she had to pretty much reputty the walls after she got the wallpapaer off. That was a nasty job. And now eventually we will ahve to redo the kitchen and the previousowners painted over the wallpaper, which we think the wallpapaer was then applied right over the raw sheetrock. :(

Actually, I've found the best solution is a nice framed picture put over that exact spot...

window cleaner with ammonia does well to remove adhesive. also, rosonol (lighter fluid) works. Not sure how well the paint will hold up to either one though

um.. good luck with that, I'd say tell Josh and Peanut to stop using foam tape on the walls, or is it the Phd's... come to think of it, I'm actually betting on the Phd's!
