So I'm going to replace my distributor since its been making this noise.

Trying to decide if I should go with a reman unit or a new performance one. Reman unit is around $75 from RockAuto. Is it safe to go with a reman unit? What benefit am I going to get from a performance distributor?

Also any good places to get one?

I've got a few pulled from mid 90's 4.0 XJs and shipped for $25 (if the connector is the same). bearings are tight in them. as far as "performance" I don't think you'll gain anything but maybe some anodized aluminum+chrome. reman's are OK, just they inspect them and replaced bearings or shafts or whatever is wrong, IOW if its not broke, don't fix it. Maybe the performance ones are lubed with molybdenum disulfide for lower friction hehe.
