Replacing pinion yoke questions

I busted my front pinion yoke and I need to replace it. I have a new u-bolt style pinion to replace the old strap style, but my question is, should I replace the pinion nut? I don't have a new one right now and I was just wondering if I would be OK reusing the old one. Second question, what is the torque spec on the pinion nut? Dana 44 front axle if it matters.
 
It's always best to use a new pinion nut, they don't cost much, but I have reused them many times without problems :) Torque is going to be in the 200-250 range.
 
Using yoke holder 6958 and a torque wrench set at 353 N·m (260 ft. lbs.), crush collapsible spacer until bearing end play is taken up Tightening Pinion Nut If more than 353 N·m (260 ft. lbs.) is needed to begin to collapse the spacer, the spacer is defective and must be replaced.

more important make sure you have the end play correct on the pinion.
 
44 most likely doesnt have a crush collar. So torque method would be correct.
 
Thanks guys, from what I have read, the d30 and d44 do not have crush sleeves. 250 lbs and a new nut it is! Thanks again :beer:
 
D30 has a crush sleeve, D44 does not. I have also reused the same pinion nut, more than once I might add.
 
Dana 44 front, Pinion Nut torque 200-200 lbs.-ft.
No crush sleeve, bearing preload is set by shims and will not be affected. I have reused pinion nuts with success, but a new one is perferred.
